Felix Baumgartner literally jumped into the history books today with his unconfirmed record breaking free fall from the edge of space. Jumping from approximately 127,000′. He fell for over 4 minutes, hopefully achieving speeds over Mach 1 on his way down – too be confirmed.

Felix jumped twice this year leading up to this recording breaking attempt. Joe Kittinger holds the current record of jumping from 102,000 back in 1960 as part of Air Force high altitude research. Joe has been working with Felix and the Stratos team throughout this project. If confirmed, Joe’s records will fall except for the longest free fall of 4:36.
